The Utzedel castle wall is located in the Utzedel municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District .
The Slavic castle wall, classified as a ground monument , is isolated about two kilometers to the west on the so-called Carolinenberg am Augraben . It is a 110 meter by 90 meter high hill castle , the walls of which have been partially destroyed. Apparently, the Burgplatz was used as a Vorwerk in the 19th century . Since there are field stones in some places on the wall, the castle was initially interpreted as an early German castle complex. Ceramic finds show, however, that it is an old to Middle Slavic castle complex from the 7th to 10th centuries. The field stones in the ramparts date from the 19th century. The Wallburg had an eastern entrance gate. Two further whale incisions visible today in the north and south of the U-shaped wall are likely to come from the time of the Vorwerk.
