The Linum castle wall is a ground monument in the Linum district of the Fehrbellin municipality in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg . It is the stables of a Slavic low castle , a Slavic rampart and later a German castle.
nature
The ground monument is in the eastern part of the village at the end of the street of the youth. The old castle grounds are now built on with several houses. On site you can see a slightly higher oval plateau with a diameter of up to 150 meters. This castle was built by the Slavs. There was also a Slavic settlement in the outer bailey of the complex. After the German conquest in the 12th and 13th centuries, the Wallburg was used by the knights as a castle . It is said to have existed until the 14th century.
Another rampart
To the south-east of Linum there was another round Slavic rampart with a diameter of 140 meters. This wall is no longer recognizable today, in the middle of an agricultural area. Finds indicate that this rampart was used in the Old, Middle and Yugoslav times. The site is only known as the "castle wall" . The relationship between the castle and the ramparts in Linum can no longer be recognized (coordinates: 52 ° 44 ′ 30 ″ N , 12 ° 53 ′ 38 ″ E ).
