Burkhard Vogt

Burkhard Vogt (born December 23, 1955 ) is a German archaeologist from the Middle East .

Burkhard Vogt studied Near Eastern and Classical Archeology and Ethnology at the University of Göttingen between 1974 and 1985 . There he was born in 1985 with the work On the Chronology and Development of the Tombs of the Late 4th - 2nd Millennium BC on the Oman Peninsula. Completed a summary, analysis and appreciation of published and unpublished excavation results . In 1987/88 he was resident archaeologist in the government of Ra's al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates . He then became a consultant at the Sanaa branch of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). Between 1994 and 2000 he headed the department before Iris Gerlach succeeded him. Vogt changed to the position of First Director of the Commission for Archeology of Non-European Cultures of the DAI. In this function he is a member of the DAI directorate and is co-editor of the Archäologische Anzeiger . Vogt has been participating in excavations in the Middle East since 1974, particularly in Oman , Iraq , the United Arab Emirates and Yemen .
