Burkhard von Erlach (officer)

Burkhard von Erlach (* 1535 in Bern ; † 1566 ) was an officer in Dutch and Piedmontese services.

Erlach was the son of Wolfgang von Erlach, Herr zu Jegenstorf, (1512–1556) and Katharina von Diesbach (1516–1576). He married Adelheid Sigelmann from Delémont, with whom he had 4 children:

  • Erasmus von Erlach († 1615), Baden governor of Zellerbad, governor of Litzel,
  • Hans Sebastian von Erlach (born June 4, 1564 in Jegenstorf, Fraubrunnen, † at an early age),
  • Burkhard von Erlach ( 1566 - 1640 ), lawyer and court marshal at the princely court of Anhalt-Bernburg ,
  • Anna Lucretia, married Thomas von Knesebeck.

He died an early death, aged 31, of plague.
