The Burney Peak is a 150 m high mountain in the east of Nelson Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises west of Duthoit Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1961 after David Burney, captain of the British sealer Nelson , who operated in the waters around the South Shetland Islands between 1820 and 1823.
