The Burschenhöhle , also known as the Monarch's Cave , is a cultural cave in the Volkringhausen district of Balver near Binolen .
It is located in the northern rock group of the Karhof limestone massif of the upper Middle Devon on the eastern flank of the Hönnetal . The entrance at the foot of the Grübeck mountain is 13 meters above the valley floor. At a depth of nine meters, the cave is 13 meters wide and five meters high.
During excavations towards the end of the 1920s, the paleontologist and prehistorian Julius Andree found some stone tools from the Paleolithic in the Burschenhöhle. He had set up three test digs.
In 1992 the Burschenhöhle was placed under protection as a ground monument . The Kleine Burschenhöhle is located in the immediate vicinity of the Burschenhöhle .
