Coordinates: 33 ° 53 ' S , 151 ° 6' O Burwood Council is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Burwood belongs to the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 7.1 km² and has about 36,800 inhabitants.
The Burwood Municipality is located in the inner city area of Sydney about ten kilometers west of the city center. The area includes eleven boroughs: Burwood, Burwood East, Burwood Heights, Burwood North, Malvern Hill and parts of Croydon, Croydon North, Croydon Park, Enfield, Enfield South and Strathfield. The council is headquartered in Burwood to the north of the LGA.

The Burwood Council has seven members who are elected by LGA residents. Burwood is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
