Business Research is a biannual, English-language scientific journal published by the Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft e. V. (VHB) and appears on the Springer Verlag online platform. From 2008 to 2013, Business Research was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and was published in cooperation with the University and City Library of Cologne and the University Library Center of North Rhine-Westphalia (hbz). Her focus is on the publication of high-quality empirical, theoretical and methodological articles that deal with important topics from one of the five main areas of business administration , i.e. accounting , finance , management , marketing and production / logistics / business informatics . Editor-in-chief is Stefan Minner from the Technical University of Munich, who took over the office in 2015 from his predecessor Sönke Albers from the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg.

To ensure that only high quality articles are published, all submitted contributions are subject to a so-called peer review . This is a review process that is carried out by reviewers who are suitable for the respective topic and must be successfully completed before an article is published in the journal. In addition to the department editors, the Editorial Board has members from 15 countries. The aim of the editors is to go through the review process within 70 days in order to be able to communicate the result to the authors promptly.

Business Research is a so-called " Open Access " journal, i. H. the articles published in this electronic journal are freely accessible on the website. In addition, the contributions are stored in various databases (such as EBSCO , SSRN, etc.), through which they can be found, viewed and downloaded. A special characteristic of BuR is the possibility of being able to provide electronic attachments (such as data sets, simulations, etc.) as a supplement to the published article online for download.
