EBSCO Information Services ( EIS ) is a leading US provider of information sources and management solutions for printed and electronic magazines , periodicals and e-books . The company develops and produces full text and reference databases . EBSCO is the provider of the EBSCO Discovery Service , which gives any facility access to the content of the entire library collection through a single integrated research interface.

EBSCO offers its service to libraries, research institutions and companies worldwide. The company has been active in Germany since the early 1970s - first from the USA, then from the Netherlands. This happened at a time when the magazine market was beginning to change a lot. Today it maintains business relationships with 95,000 publishers and operates 30 branches in 23 countries, in Europe in Aalsmeer, Ankara, Augsburg, Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Turin, Warsaw and Vienna. The continuously updated title database comprises 360,000 entries (as of April 2014). The company's consolidation centers are in Birmingham (USA), Aalsmeer (NL), and for German titles in Berlin.

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) is a division of EBSCO Industries Ltd. and has been managed by Tim Collins since July 1, 2013. EBSCO (short for Elton B. Stephens Company) is a family business in the 2nd generation, which also manufactures metal struts, roof plates and fish hooks and is active in the real estate sector.

EBSCO has been involved in the development of the Folio open source library system through the Open Library Foundation since 2016 .

EBSCO Germany

The regional office for Germany in Berlin operates under the name EBSCO Information Services GmbH and employs 60 people. It maintains a sales office in Augsburg and sales representatives in Hamburg, Nuremberg and Munich, as well as internationally in Vienna, Prague, Poznań, Warsaw, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Moscow. General Manager is Cary Bruce.
