The Business Roundtable (BRT) is a US lobby organization founded in 1972 by around 200 business leaders from large US multinational corporations and is based in Washington, DC The organization was formed in 1972 through the merger of the March Group , which was made up of CEOs of the Construction Users Anti-Inflation Roundtable and the Labor Law Study Committee .

The aim of the forum is based on the conviction that in a pluralistic society the economic sector should play an active and effective role in the formation of public order. The forum is for deregulation and reduction of government intervention through laws and taxes and for more voluntary agreements for industry. The Business Roundtable also pushed the Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI) and supported the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the American Free Trade Area (FTAA) and lobbied for British Petroleum , Coca-Cola , Deutsche Bank , ExxonMobil , General Motors , Monsanto and Nike , for example , Procter & Gamble and Shell . In 2007, the BRT was one of the initiators of the Aspen Principles .

The organization's current focus is on corporate governance , education and workforce, energy and the environment, health and retirement, immigration, infrastructure, international engagement, intelligent regulation, tax and fiscal policy as well as technology, internet and innovation.
