In bvfa - Federal Association for Technical Fire Protection Association are German manufacturer of products for the technical preventive fire protection together. There are also qualified fire protection companies who sell and maintain manufacturers' products. The member companies of the bvfa are active in fire protection worldwide.
history
The association was founded in 1972 in Hagen as the Federal Association of Fire Extinguishing Devices and Systems. Installers for water extinguishing systems and special extinguishing systems as well as manufacturers of the fire extinguishing equipment industry were involved.
In the 1990s, the specialist groups for extinguishing agents and extinguishing water technology were founded. Together with the fire extinguishing equipment industry specialist group, they now form the "mobile extinguishing technology" division.
The stationary extinguishing technology was represented for many years by the specialist groups water extinguishing systems and special extinguishing systems. Two further specialist groups were founded in 2000: components (accessories for sprinkler systems ) and control (of extinguishing systems).
With the establishment of the structural fire protection specialist group in 2004, the bvfa renamed itself the Bundesverband Technischer Brandschutz eV
Goal setting
The member companies have set themselves the goal of promoting systematic ideas for technical fire protection in Germany in order to guarantee the safety of people, property and the environment . In the research and development departments of the member companies, work is carried out on the optimization of existing and the development of new, innovative extinguishing technologies.
In order to achieve efficient results, the bvfa works closely with authorities , legislators , standardization institutes, property insurers, professional associations and associations. The bvfa converts the results and insights into the important topics of the industry resulting from this intensive cooperation into current information.
Specialist groups
The member companies are organized in eight specialist groups:
Fire extinguishing equipment industry
Almost all German manufacturers are represented in this specialist group. In addition to the production of fire extinguishers, the companies also offer maintenance with their own customer services or arrange contacts with affiliated independent customer service companies. Portable and mobile fire extinguishers are produced for the domestic market and to a considerable extent for export .
Extinguishing agent manufacturer
The extinguishing agent manufacturers represented in the specialist group almost completely represent all German manufacturers in this branch . The full range of extinguishing agents approved in Germany is offered. Customers are fire extinguishing equipment manufacturers, but also manufacturers of stationary extinguishing systems, commercial customers and, in particular, fire brigades . A significant part of the production is exported .
Extinguishing water technology
The member companies plan and install stationary extinguishing water technology in buildings. Wall hydrants , cabinets for fire protection equipment , fittings and special equipment for the technically perfect separation of drinking water and extinguishing water are produced.
Structural fire protection
The member companies are manufacturers, system providers / processors or special providers of officially approved facilities and constructions for the fire protection of building parts as well as installations to prevent unhindered fire spreading in cables, pipelines, air conditioning / ventilation and conveyor systems.
Components
The member companies of the components specialist group of the bvfa produce VdS- approved components for stationary extinguishing systems. Exports to the European economic area and beyond make up a significant proportion of the member companies' turnover.
Control
The members of this bvfa specialist group have VdS approval for the control of stationary extinguishing systems. Fire alarm systems for the automatic control of fire extinguishing systems must meet specific requirements that differ from those for pure early fire detection and alarm notification. Highly specialized control systems for extinguishing systems are manufactured.
Special extinguishing systems
The manufacturers of stationary extinguishing systems that do not use the extinguishing agent water are represented in this specialist group. VdS approval is a prerequisite for membership (exception: small extinguishing systems). Products are, for example: Extinguishing systems with inert gases , chemical gases and / or systems for fire prevention by reducing oxygen by supplying nitrogen.
Water extinguishing systems
Most of the German providers of stationary water extinguishing systems belong to this specialist group. VdS approval is a prerequisite for membership. The member companies are not only active in Germany , but also throughout Europe and sometimes even worldwide. The members of this specialist group set up extinguishing systems with the medium water such as sprinkler systems , water spray extinguishing systems, water mist systems, etc.
Association work
Main focuses of the work of the bvfa:
- Close cooperation and partnership with the VdS .
- Product education and information.
- Intensive collaboration in standardization ( DIN / EN) and in the development of guidelines ( VdS ) in order to record the technically demanding fire protection solutions.
- Support of the VDS also on an international level.
- The close partnership with customers and the constant further development of the extinguishing agents.
- Information from planners, fire brigades and the plumbing trade about the special features of extinguishing water technology. The bvfa has created the test book as a central work for this.
- Promotion of specialist interests and business importance for the economic benefit of the member companies.
- Implementation of the high quality standards of the companies assembled in the specialist groups.
- The bvfa offers support in the marketing of components on European and worldwide markets, for example through publications and trade fair participation.
Sprinkler Protected - bvfa quality seal
Since 1993, public buildings in Germany have been awarded the "Sprinkler Protected" seal of quality for exemplary fire protection. In the past ten years, the rating went to more than 40 exposed objects in all parts of the Federal Republic of Germany. The central idea is the protection of human life. Increasing awareness of technical fire protection is the purpose of “Sprinkler Protected”. Strict criteria apply to the award. The sprinkler system must have been planned, installed and approved by a recognized test center by a recognized specialist company.
Publications
- BRANDSCHUTZ Compact is the information letter from the bvfa. Four times a year, it takes up highly topical topics and discussions, provides data and facts and, whenever possible, offers an interview with a specialist in each issue . Fire protection compact is aimed at specialist planners, engineers , operators, authorities, fire departments and everyone who wants to be regularly informed about preventive fire protection.
