The Bw Apparel Management GmbH ( BWBM ) is a State-owned company to supply the soldiers and civilian employees of the Armed Forces of clothing and personal equipment as part of contracts. It was created on January 1, 2017 from the former LH Bundeswehr Bekleidungsgesellschaft mbH (LHBw).

history

The LH Bundeswehr Bekleidungsgesellschaft mbH was created in 2002 from the privatization of individual areas within the Bundeswehr. The company was operated as a public-private partnership (PPP) until 2015 to manage the clothing industry for the German Armed Forces. The PPP existed between the federal government (division of the Federal Ministry of Defense ), with a 25.1% stake, and the companies Lion Apparel Inc. , USA and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics GmbH & Co. KG in equal parts with 37.45% each .

In addition to the continuation of the tasks of the clothing checkout, another order from the LHBw was to set up a third-party business, for which the subsidiaries LHD Group GmbH (LHD) and LHD Group Deutschland GmbH were founded. LHD built up a third-party business in the areas of work clothing and corporate fashion. To this end, companies in Spain , England , France , New Zealand , Australia , Hong Kong and Switzerland were taken over or founded.

In 2015, the federal government took over the shares of the private shareholders Lion Apparel Inc. USA and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics GmbH & Co. KG in LHBw. The LHBw was thus completely owned by the Federal Republic of Germany. LHD Group Deutschland GmbH, in which the non-armed forces business was merged, was sold to an investor in 2016. The BWBM, which focuses on the Bundeswehr, emerged from the previous companies.

Companies

The task of the BWBM is clothing management for uniforms and personal equipment of the Bundeswehr. All items are developed, procured, cleaned and repaired together with the Bundeswehr.

The fiscal equipment is organized across Germany via the service stations (SVS) distributed across the federal properties and via the mobile service points (MSP). The main services of a service station are the clothing, the exchange of clothing items and the conversion for foreign missions and / or equipment changes due to a change of activity or a change of military service of soldiers. Other service tasks include repair work on clothing items. Some larger service stations have additional functions in the context of the preparation of clothing items. There, parts of the clothing that are taken back are checked on site, washed and then returned to the cycle of goods or sorted out. A mobile service point (MSP) is used for certain Bundeswehr locations that are not located in the vicinity of a service station.

BwBM operates its own sales organization with stationary and mobile shops and a web shop to supply NCOs and officers with service and sportswear. To ensure the supply, BWBM operates its own logistics with several large storage and transport systems.
