Byun Jung-il (* 16th November 1968 in Seoul ) is a former South Korean boxer in the bantamweight .

Professional career

He took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

In 1990 Jung-Il Byun successfully started his professional career. On March 28, 1993, already in his 9th fight, he boxed against Victor Rabanales for the world championship title of the WBC association and won by unanimous decision. Jung-Il Byun defended this belt in the same year against Josefino Suarez on points and lost it to Yasuei Yakushiji by split point decision.

At the end of July of the following year, Jung-Il Byun played in a direct rematch against Yakushiji and had to admit defeat by TKo . After this defeat he ended his career. Jung-Il Byun completed a total of only 12 professional fights.
