César Charlone

César Charlone (* 1958 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan cameraman .

Life

Charlone first worked as a cameraman in the documentary Em Nome da Segurança Nacional in 1984 and then worked in various Brazilian film productions. He became better known in 2002 with Fernando Meirelles ' City of God , for which he received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Cinematography . For the television series City of Men , with which Meirelles builds on the film, he wrote the script and directed the pilot film.

In 2007 he directed a feature film for the first time. El baño del Papa - The big business won numerous awards at various film festivals and was submitted as Uruguay's entry for the best foreign language film , but was not nominated.
