César Villarraga

César Villarraga (born September 22, 1985 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian boxer . Villarraga was winner of the 2010 South American lightweight games and a participant in the 2012 Olympic games at light welterweight .

Career

Villaraga took part as a distinct late starter only in 2009 for the first time in an international championship, the Pan American Championships in Mexico City . He started here at featherweight (-57 kg) but did not get beyond the first round, in which he lost to Óscar Valdez , Mexico (6: 4). On the other hand, things went better at the South American Games in 2010, when he won after victories a. a. in the semifinals over Erick Bonez, Ecuador (14: 6), and in the final over the eventual world champion Éverton Lopes , Brazil (7: 3), who won the gold medal in the lightweight (-60 kg). In the same year he also won the silver medal at the "Central American and Caribbean Games" in Mayaguez .

At his first participation in the World Championships in 2011 Villarraga failed in the first fight against Javkhlan Bariaddii, Mongolia (15:11) and at the Pan American Games in the same year also in the first fight against Angel Suarez, Puerto Rico (19:16).

To qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games , Villarraga took part in the American Olympic qualification tournament in Rio de Janeiro and reached the light welterweight division (-64 kg) by making it to the semi-finals, which he did against Rosniel Iglesias , Cuba (14: 7) , lost. At the Olympic Games in London , he met Rosniel Iglesias again in the first fight and had to admit defeat this time (20: 9).
