Cătălin Botezatu (born December 3, 1966 in Alexandria , Romania ) is a Romanian fashion designer .

Cătălin Botezatu had passed the entrance exam to study atomic physics, but then wanted to switch to theater studies, but did not pass the entrance exam. He then worked as a model , studied at the state fashion institute and won a model competition in Leipzig . After the Romanian Revolution in 1989 , he won a scholarship to the International Fashion Institute in Milan , where he met Gianni Versace . However, Botezatu turned down an offer to work as a designer at Versace. He went back to Romania and opened his first private fashion house in 1990, followed by his own atelier four years later.
