The multi-purpose ship type OBC 25 from Howaldtswerke in Hamburg and Kiel is also known as the C-class .

history

The series was built in the 1970s and 1980s in 14 units and several versions by the Howaldtswerke Hamburg and Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft shipyards , which also designed the ships. The C-Class was a successful type that was produced for seven years. All ships of the series were ordered by the Hamburg shipping companies Chr. F. Ahrenkiel and Jonny Wesch . The generic term for the ship class comes from the Ahrenkiel ships, whose names all began with "C". The ships have five hatches that are closed with pontoon hatch covers. According to the wishes of the client, four or five cranes were used as loading gear and various main engines within the series. In addition to transporting containers, the ships are also suitable for transporting bulk cargo and dry bulk cargoes.

Rebecca Wesch and Karsten Wesch were the last two ships built by the Hamburg Howaldtswerke's Ross plant in Hamburg. The Conscience was converted in 1997 at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven into the fruit juice tanker Southern Juice .
