CV Madhukar

CV Madhukar (* 1968 in Andhra Pradesh , India) is an Indian civil society activist and director of PRS Legislative Research (Parliamentary Research Service - Legislative Research ), a not-for-profit research initiative, the Legislative Briefs (short annotated summaries) of draft laws in the House of Commons, Lok Sabha , and House of Lords, Rajya Sabha , of the Indian Parliament and also publishes articles on the work of the Indian Parliament. It aims to strengthen the debates on legislation by making them better informed, more transparent and more participatory. Madhukar started PRS in September 2005. The initiative is currently hosted by the Center for Policy Research, Center for Policy Research .

Most recently, Madhukar worked at the World Bank in Washington DC with a group that focused on countries around the world with parliamentary capacities.

Madhukar began his career in 1993 as an investment banker with ICICI Securities in Mumbai , where he worked on the privatization of large state-owned companies. Still officially employed by ICICI, he mostly worked as a volunteer at Pratham in their first crucial years. Pratham is a not-for-profit organization that aims to promote elementary education in urban India: "CV Madhukar was part of the original Executive Group of Pratham in Mumbai." The ICICI bank was Pratham's largest financier at the time, including personal commitments by the ICICI- Management and the release of Madhukar for the four years of his work there.

At the invitation of the government of the Indian state of Karnataka in the spring of 2000, Madhukar founded and managed together with others the Akshara Foundation , an initiative for elementary education that focuses on Bangalore's children. Madhukar recently founded the Azim Premji Foundation , an initiative of Azim Premji , chairman of the board of directors of Wipro and one of the wealthiest corporate bosses in all of India. The initiative supports the use of modern technology in rural schools in India.

Madhukar is an Edward S. Mason Fellow from Harvard University , where he also earned a Masters in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He also received an MBA (Finance) from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Bangalore . In 2005 Madhukar was awarded an Echoing Green Fellowship .
