C ₄ benzenes

In chemistry and technology, C ₄ -benzenes are a group of compounds in which benzene is only substituted by four other carbon atoms in the form of alkyl radicals.

These substances with the empirical formula C ₁₀ H ₁₄ and a molar mass of 134.22 g mol ⁻¹ include 22 compounds in 6 groups:

• the three tetramethylbenzenes (Prehnitol, Isodurol, Durol )
• the six dimethylethylbenzenes
• the three diethylbenzenes
• the three isopropylmethylbenzenes (e.g. p -cyymol )
• the three n- propylmethylbenzenes
• the four butylbenzenes
