European Community Bar Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Council of Bar Associations of the European Community (French: Commission de Conseil des Barreaux européens , abbreviated CCBE ) is the link between the national bar associations of the 27 EU countries, as well as Iceland , Liechtenstein and Norway (as members of the EEA ) and Switzerland . The lawyerships of some other countries are either associated ( Croatia , Turkey ) or have observer status ( Macedonia , Montenegro , Serbia , Ukraine , Georgia ).

The CCBE was founded in 1960 and sees itself as a link between the members on the one hand and the EU institutions on the other. Furthermore, one works internationally with various comparable non-European associations.

At a plenary meeting on October 28, 1988, it decided on its professional rules for lawyers in the European Union, including rules for behavior towards clients, courts and other lawyers.
