CCL8 ( English CC-chemokine ligand 8 ) is a cytokine belonging to the family of the C-C chemokines .
properties
CCL8 is involved in inflammatory processes. It is chemotactic for and activates various immune cells , including mast cells , eosinophils and basophils , monocytes , T cells, and NK cells . CCL8 binds to the chemokine receptors CCR1 , CCR2B and CCR5 . Because it binds to the core receptor of HIV- 1, CCR5, CCL8 inhibits infection of cells with HIV-1.
