CD84 (synonym SLAM family member 5 ) is a surface protein from the group of SLAM receptors .
properties
CD84 is produced by various immune cells in lymph nodes and the spleen . It binds other CD84 molecules on neighboring cells, thereby increasing the production of interferon-gamma in activated T cells . SLAM receptors ( signaling lymphocytic activation molecule ) regulate the activation and differentiation of various immune cells. The activity is also regulated by the cellular adapter proteins SH2D1A / SAP and / or SH2D1B / EAT-2 . CD84 is involved in the cell proliferation of activated T cells. CD84 is necessary for longer cell contact between T and B cells . CD84 inhibits the activation of mast cells . CD84 is glycosylated and phosphorylated .
CD84 is believed to be involved in the development of lupus erythematosus and CLL .
