Juan Carlos Mesías (born July 6, 1933 in Treinta y Tres , Uruguay , † April 21, 2002 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

Mesías, who was used at the beginning of his career first as a striker, then later as a left half , began his sporting career in 1956 at Nacional Montevideo . For the "Bolsos" called Montevideans he played until 1960. The club was 1956 and 1957 Uruguayan champions. However, these titles are not explicitly assigned to him. In 1961, like his compatriot Carlos Borges , he joined the Racing Club de Avellaneda . That year he won the national championship with the Argentines, for whom he was active until 1965 and, according to the club, scored three goals in 105 missions. According to other sources, these numbers include four personally goalless international games. 1967 followed another career station with the Newell's Old Boys , for which he ran 17 times (no goal) in the league.

National team

Mesías made his debut on March 14, 1959 in the Uruguayan senior team . He made a total of 15 international matches. He didn't score a goal. His last international game in the "Celeste" dated August 17, 1960 in the 4-0 defeat against Argentina in the Copa del Atlántico 1960. As early as March 1959, he took part with Uruguay in the South American Championship . He then also belonged to the squad at the second South American Championship that year in December 1959 that won the continental title.
