Club Deportivo Luis Angel Firpo, or simply Firpo, is a football club from Usulután , El Salvador and plays in the Primera División de Fútbol Profesional, the highest football league in the country.

history

CD LA Firpo is the oldest football club in El Salvador. The club was founded on September 17, 1923 by a group of citizens of the city. Originally the club was called Tecún Umán , but was soon renamed in honor of Luis Angel Firpo , a famous Argentine boxer who was the first heavyweight champion in Latin America.

The team has won the championship eight times so far.

The team took part in the first edition of the CONCACAF Champions League in 2008 , but retired in the main round as third place in Group B.
