Raúl Díaz Arce (born February 1, 1970 in San Miguel ) is a former football player from El Salvador . For years he was the most successful goalscorer for the national team in his home country.

societies

Diaz Arce played for CD Dragon, in El Salvador's second division, from 1988 to 1991. He then moved to CD Luis Ángel Firpo and played there from 1991 to 1996. He scored 150 goals in total, including 25 in the 1995/96 season.

In 1996 he moved to the USA , in the then newly founded Major League Soccer . There he played for DC United , New England Revolution , San Jose Clash , Tampa Bay Mutiny and Colorado Rapids . Most of the time he played for DC United.

In 2002 he joined Charleston Battery , who play in the second division . He ended his career in 2004 with Puerto Rico Islanders FC, also playing in the second division .

At the end of his career, he was one of the most successful goal scorers in Major League Soccer. In total, he scored 82 goals during his time in the league.

Coaching career

After the end of his active career, Raúl Arce was assistant coach of the US U-17 national team , which he looked after for the next five years.
