CHS Inc. is owned by US agricultural cooperatives , farmers, ranchers, and thousands of preferred shareholders. The in Inver Grove Heights ( Minnesota -based company) owns and operates various food processing, Agrarversorgungs-, financial services and retail companies and is co-owner of the vegetable oil processor Ventura Foods . It also owns the fuel manufacturer Cenex .

With 2018 sales of $ 32.683 billion, it was the 97th largest company in the country and the largest cooperative.

history

The history of CHS began in 1931 with the establishment of the Farmers Union Central Exchange in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The core cooperative was later renamed Cenex from the combination of the last two words in its previous name.

In 1998, Cenex merged with Harvest States Cooperatives to form Cenex Harvest States.

In 2003 the cooperative was renamed CHS Inc.
