CIBK-FM (98.5 Virgin, also: Vibe 98.5 ) is a private radio broadcaster in Calgary , Alberta , Canada . The transmitter is of Astral Media operated and sends on the frequency 98.5 M Hz FM with a capacity of 100 k W .

The station received broadcasting permission in 2001 and began broadcasting officially the following year. Initially he broadcast a mix of R&B and hip-hop , which is why he advertises with Calgary's hit Music Station . With CKIS (KISS 96.9), CIBK-FM fought against each other, as both stations broadcast a similar format. The rivalry lasted about a month, after which CKIS (KISS 96.9) decided to change the broadcast format.

CIBK-FM was part of a takeover of Standard Broadcasting by Astral Media, which had taken over all stations by October 29, 2007.

On April 1, 2010, Astral Media registered the web addresses: VirginRadio985.com, Virgin985.com and VirginCalgary.com, which sparked speculation that the station would operate under the family brand, which was ultimately confirmed. The station was renamed on June 30, 2010. It is the second Virgin radio station to broadcast the mainstream Top 40 broadcast format after Toronto's CKFM-FM. The last song that ran under the old station name was Goodbye from Kristinia DeBarge. After a short break, the first song under the new station label (Virgin Radio 98.5) was California Gurls by Katy Perry.
