Compañía Industrial de Orizaba SA , often abbreviated as CIDOSA or CIDOSA , was a textile factory a few kilometers west of the Mexican city of Orizaba in the state of Veracruz .

history

The industrial company of Orizaba AG , the German translation of the factory name, was officially founded on June 28, 1889 with the aim of building a modern factory for cotton textiles. Their location was in the place Río Blanco , created by their settlement , immediately east of Orizaba. The then still rural area offered not only enough space for the factory itself, but also for around a hundred houses that were built for the workers and employees of the same, as well as social facilities such as schools, a church and a theater, parks and public green spaces.

Among other things, CIDOSA also produced printed fabrics and soon assumed a prominent position in the industrial city of Orizaba. In 1892 she founded the important Río Blanco factory and took over the San Lorenzo , Los Cerritos and Cocolapan factories .

The factory, which no longer exists today, was still at least one hundred years old.

Soccer

CIDOSA also provided a soccer team that won the Veracruz State Championship in the 1936/37 and 1939/40 seasons, making it the city's most successful team in this competition.
