Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules

The Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules (CMSB) is the international umbrella organization for ball sports and is recognized as such by the IOC . The association based in Monte-Carlo was founded in 1985.

Member associations

Member associations are (with year of admission);

  • Fédération Internationale de Boules (FIB) (1946)
    • Boule Lyonnaise (or Jeu National, Lyonnaise, Jeu Lyonnaise, today officially called Sport-Boules)
  • Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP) (1958)
  • Confederazione Boccistica Internationale (CBI) (1982)
  • World Bowls (2003)

FIPJP

With 558,889 members (as of December 2007), the FIPJP is the largest association of the CMSB. 78 associations are organized in it. The largest association is the French association ( Fédération Française de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal , FFPJP) with 362,876 members (as of December 2006). The rest of the members have a combined 215,599 members. In 1978 the relationship was even clearer. France had 375,603 members, the remaining 17 member associations had a total of 28,360 members.

FIP JP

The FIPJP organizes world pétanque championships for seniors, women and youth.

Germany

The German Pétanque Association (DPV) is the fifth largest association with 14,252 athletes.

Switzerland

The Fédération Suisse de Pétanque (FSP) ranks 12th with 3,427 athletes. It is divided into the following associations:

  • Le secteur Alémanique de Pétanque (SAP)
  • L'association cantonale fribourgeoise
  • L'association cantonale Genevoise
  • L'association Jurassienne
  • L'association cantonale Neuchâteloise
  • L'association cantonale Valaisanne
  • L'association vaudoise

Austria

The Austrian Pétanque Association (ÖPV) has 262 members (2006). It was founded in 1993.
