Pantone Hexachrome

Hexachrome is a subtractive color mixing method in the printing industry , in which in addition to the CMYK colors still orange and green are used. This procedure was developed to enlarge the usable color space . The basic colors cyan , magenta , yellow and black have also been changed.

The reason for the development was the desire to exceed the limits of classic four-color printing . The increased color range can only be seen in the print; the difference cannot be seen on normal computer screens. The color gamut that can be displayed on the screen is always higher than the color gamut achieved in 6-color printing.

The patent holder, the company Pantone , has developed a process in which, in addition to a much better color representation in photos, the printing of special colors is possible without the use of real special colors.
