Secretaría de Cultura
The Secretaría de Cultura ( German : Kultursekretariat ) was founded by presidential decree on December 6, 1988 as a decentralized body of the Secretaría de Educación Pública and is Mexico's national council for culture and the arts .
The task of the council, based in Mexico City, is the implementation of the Mexican government's cultural policy, in particular the protection of cultural heritage, the promotion and dissemination of Mexican art and culture in closer relations with artists and cultural workers.
The current secretary of the council is Rafael Tovar y de Teresa .
