The China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited , and China COSCO Shipping Group (COSCOCS), is a 2016 in China based shipping company. It was created on February 18, 2016 as a merger of the two state-owned shipping companies COSCO and China Shipping Group . In terms of load capacity, the company operates the largest fleet worldwide and ranks fourth in the container transport segment with the two merged liner shipping companies COSCON and China Shipping Container Lines (1.58 million TEU ).
In addition to the actual ship operation as the most important business area, COSCOCS works in the areas of ship financing , ship management, manning, spare parts management, bunker services , ship and ship mechanical engineering, and industrial logistics . A number of container terminals are operated worldwide .
According to the first annual report published after the merger, the company made a loss of 1.1 billion US dollars in the half-year to June 2016.
In November 2016 the "Ocean Alliance" was founded with Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), CMA CGM and Evergreen Marine .
