The HXD3B is an electric locomotive for the heavy freight traffic of China Railways . HX is the abbreviation for harmony (Chinese: hé xié ), D stands for electric (diàn), 3 stands for locomotives that are built by the Dalian locomotive factory, and B stands for the consecutive designation of the individual series.

history

In February 2007, the Chinese Ministry of Railways signed a contract with Bombardier and the Dalian Locomotive Factory for the delivery of 500 locomotives. Bombardier has a share of EUR 370 million and the Dalian locomotive factory a share of EUR 730 million in the total volume of EUR 1.1 billion. The first HXD3B was presented to the public on December 29, 2008.

The HXD3B is one of the three series of six-axle locomotives developed with the help of European companies for heavy freight traffic in China. For the first time, an output of 1.6 MW per drive motor was installed. The other two series are together with Siemens developed HXD1B and together with Alstom developed HXD2B .

technical features

The mechanical part was largely taken over by the IORE . In contrast to the locomotive for the Swedish Malmbanan , the HXD3B has two driver's cabs.

The electrical equipment is similar to the TRAXX 2E . The locomotive has a Einzelachsantrieb means of asynchronous motors, the three water cooled IGBT - converters are supplied. At 9.6 MW, it has a significantly higher output than the IORE and reaches a top speed of 120 km / h.
