CRL 618 , also named after the discoverer of the infrared source William E. Westbrook Westbrook Nebula , a rare German Westbrook nebula , is a pre-planetary nebula .
The nebula is formed by a star of the spectral class B0, which lies hidden in the center and has been ejecting gases at a speed of 200 km / s for about 200 years. The bipolar currents, tilted about 24 ° in relation to the line of sight, consist mainly of molecular gas, which forms a shock front with older gas eruptions in the outer areas.
