Ca 'Bernardo (San Polo)
Ca 'Bernardo is a palace in Venice in the Italian province of Veneto . It is located in the Sestiere San Polo with a view of the Riel Sant'Antonio and the Rio di San Polo near the Campo San Polo .
history
The palace is dated to the 15th century and was the noble seat of the Bernardo family . The interior was refreshed in the 18th century. The Ca 'Bernardo is still a private residence today. From 1876 to 1913 the Società Musiva Veneziana (Venetian Musical Society) was housed on the ground floor .
description
The building has three full floors and a mezzanine floor under the roof. The facade is one of the more representative and elegant of the Venetian Gothic . The two main floors have round arched quadruple windows in the middle. The valuable capitals , which are decorated with floral motifs, as well as the other decorations on the frames on the quadruple windows are of particular quality .
The entrance portal to the canal, in the middle, shows an interesting arrangement on the arch, which is crowned with two eyes . Inside you can still find frescoes from the 18th century on the second main floor .
