Cabinotier
A cabinotier is a worker who works in a workshop in Geneva for a watch factory. A Cabinotier can come from different trades and does not have to be a watchmaker , he only has to work in a supplier workshop of a watch factory, which is also known as a cabinet (French: cabinet ). The final comment in the illustrated watchmaking glossary, published by the Association of the Swiss Watch Industry FH , reads: "The Geneva cabin animal was known for his biting ridicule".
The profession of Cabinotiers included not only watchmakers and goldsmiths, gem-setters, engravers, Rhabilleure, Repasseure, precision mechanics, polishers, Electroplating and Cadranographen. Cabinotiers were described as early as the 17th century and were characterized by a high reputation, higher wages and shorter working hours.
