Café restaurant residence
The Café Restaurant Residenz is a Viennese coffee house in the 13th Viennese district Hietzing in eastern Ehrenhoftrakt of Schoenbrunn Palace .
history
During the imperial era, the premises of the Café Restaurant Residenz functioned as a “police kitchen”. The castle guards were provided with food here. In 1948 the castle guards succeeded in obtaining a permit to run an inn . The restaurant has been leased out several times since then.
The restaurant has been owned by the Querfeld family since 1998. The choice of the name "Café Restaurant Residenz" was based on Emperor Franz Joseph I , who declared Schönbrunn Palace to be his year-round residence in 1904.
particularities
An “ apple strudel show” takes place every hour in the show bakery below the café , and an “apple strudel seminar” is also held regularly in this bakery, where participants can prepare their own apple strudel.
