Cambusbarron is a town in the south of the Scottish Council Area Stirling . It is a southwestern suburb of Stirling .

history

A settlement already existed on the site in the Middle Ages. According to tradition, there was also a chapel where Robert the Bruce prayed on the evening before the victorious Battle of Bannockburn . Bannockburn itself is about 3.5 kilometers southeast.

At the time of the industrial revolution , Cambusbarron developed into a textile producing location and several industrial mills were built. The Hayford Mills alone employed around 1200 people at the turn of the century. Her owning family, the Smiths, lived in the Jacobean mansion at Hayford House . In 1875 £ 4,000 was used to build a school that could accommodate 270 students.

Between 1861 and 1871, Cambusbarron's population more than doubled to 1236. Between 1961 and 1991 it fluctuated only slightly between 1400 and 1500. In the course of the 2011 census survey, 3224 people were counted in Cabusbarron.
