Camerata Europaea

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Camerata Europaea is an orchestral ensemble that puts its artistic work under the banner of " Europe " and understands music as a universal means of understanding across borders. The ensemble was founded in 2005 under the artistic direction of Maria Makraki . The CE consists of a solid base of highly talented, professional young musicians, to whom soloists and composers from other European countries are regularly invited. As cultural ambassadors of their country, they embody the cross-border mobility of artists and works. An inspiring and lasting intercultural dialogue develops in cooperation with the CE . All of these characteristics - mobility of cultural actors, cross-border distribution of artistic works, and intercultural dialogue - are fundamental concerns of the EU cultural agenda 2007-2013 and 2014-2020.

Endeavoring to give the European Union's broad slogan “Unity in Diversity” a musical face, the Camerata Europaea develops concert programs for chamber music and orchestral formations that make the regionally different musical traditions audible, while at the same time referring to a common European heritage.
