Maria Makraki
Maria Makraki (born July 9, 1970 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek conductor .
The physicist , who received her diploma from the University of Athens in 1993 , first studied piano and composition at the Athens Music Academy , later also conducting at the University of the Arts in Berlin with HM Rabenstein and I. Jackson, as well as in the context of an additional degree with distinction at the Hochschule für Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin at HD Baum.
As a guest conductor, she regularly conducted performances and recording productions with the orchestras of the Athens, Bucharest, Munich, Hessian, Stuttgart and Cologne Southwest and West German Radio, with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin as well as with the Berlin, Bochum, Boston, Nuremberg and Tchaikovsky symphony orchestras. Since 2001 she has been a member of the artistic list of the German Music Council's funding program "Maestros von Morgen". In 2003 she was conductor of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic at the Chemnitz Opera Theater . The multiple prizewinner of conducting competitions took over the artistic direction of the Camerata Europaea in Berlin in July 2007 . From 2007 to 2009 Maria Makraki was a lecturer in orchestral conducting at the Macedonian University in Thessaloniki. A special focus of her artistic work is the development of innovative program concepts for contemporary European music.
