Camerata Switzerland

The Camerata Switzerland emerged in 1999 from the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra (SJSO) . The orchestra appears in various sizes, from chamber ensembles to symphony orchestras. The orchestra is a regular guest at international festivals such as the “Avenches Opera Festival”, the “Murten Classics” or the “davos festival - young artists in concert”. In 2009 and 2010, the Camerata Switzerland was invited to the «Music Summer on Lake Zurich» as Orchestra in Residence.

From 2004 to 2009 the Camerata Switzerland was under the artistic direction of the Central Swiss conductor Graziella Contratto , who continues to accompany the orchestra as the first guest conductor. As part of an “Artistic Partnership”, Camerata Switzerland has been working closely with the renowned conductor Howard Griffiths since 2010 . The first two CD recordings of the Camerata Switzerland with works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Baptist Vanhal were released in 2011 under his direction .
