Camilla Klettner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Camilla Klettner ( 1841 in Prague - April 30, 1891 in Graz ) was an opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Klettner found her first engagement in 1860 at the court theater in Neustrelitz. There she stayed until 1864, then came to the opera in Graz and was committed to the court theater in Stuttgart in 1865, where she worked with great honors, especially in the higher soubrette roles. It has not been replaced by its genre in Stuttgart and its loss was a sensitive one for the court theater. Appointed royal Württemberg chamber singer, she withdrew completely into private life.

Her best roles were: "Susanne", the two "Zerlinen", "Rose Friquet", "Röschen" in Little Red Riding Hood , "Philine" in Mignon etc. In all of these achievements, one praised her tingling, graceful talent, her mischievous cheerfulness and Naivety of tone and play. As a soubrette it was just lovely, so it could be sure of its effect. The roles that reach over into the dramatic and where the situation urges a higher dramatic accent and powerful pathos are less successful.
