Camp Muir is a refuge named after Scottish polymath and Sierra Club founder John Muir . Camp Muir is located on Mt. Rainier volcano in Washington state in the United States between Muir Snowfield and Cowlitz Glacier at an altitude of 3,072 meters (10,080 ft). The hut can be used as a base camp for climbing the summit and is maintained by the National Park Service .
Camp Muir was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 13, 1991 under the reference number 91000176 .
