Canadian Country Music Association

The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) is a Canadian funding organization that has set itself the task of ensuring the continuous growth and further development of the Canadian country music industry. This is done through communication, information and the marketing of Canadian Country Music and its artists nationally and internationally. The organization is based in Toronto , Ontario .

history

The Canadian Country Music Association was founded in September 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment . The organization started with the issue of RPM magazine . The first board of directors announced in the same month that the organization would promote the Canadian country music industry in the future. The organization began funding by funding the Country Music Week event . The first awards to be made in association with Country Music Week were the RPM Big Country Awards .

Between 1986 and 1987 the organization was officially renamed the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA). Due to the growth and popularity of the organization, it was now possible to win a private television broadcaster to broadcast the award ceremony. The organization partnered with Canada's second largest television broadcaster, CTV Television . In 1987 the Canadian Country Music Awards were broadcast live from coast to coast for the first time. This collaboration with CTV lasted until 1998.

In 1999, the CCMA entered into a new partnership with CBC Television and thus began broadcasting awards shows and music videos on Country Music Television . The ceremonies of the Canadian Country Music Awards 2005 for the first time also on the US television channel Great American Country (GAC) and the Australian Country Music Channel transmitted (CMC).

Venues

In 2010 the CCMA Awards were presented in Edmonton , Alberta . The demand was strongest ever. In 2011, the awards took place in Hamilton , Ontario , and in 2012 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan . In 2013 and 2014 the CCMA Awards will again be presented in Edmonton.
