The Canadian Hockey Association was founded in 1909 as the top ice hockey league, replacing the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association . The league collapsed in January 1910 without the championship ending and then merged with the National Hockey Association . The five teams that competed in the league were: All-Montréal HC , Montréal Nationals , Montreal Shamrocks , Ottawa Senators, and Quebec Bulldogs .
