The Montreal Shamrocks were a Canadian ice hockey team from Montréal , Québec . The team played among other things in the 1910 season in the National Hockey Association .
history
The Montreal Shamrocks ice hockey team was formed on December 15, 1886 by members of the Shamrock Lacrosse Club . From 1891 to its dissolution in 1898, the team played in the Amateur Hockey Association of Canada , where it was merged with league rivals Montreal Crystals in 1895 . In the following seven years, the team played in the successor league Canadian Amateur Hockey League . This period was the most successful in franchise history, as they won the Stanley Cup in March 1899 and 1900 respectively . In the following years the Shamrocks also competed in the top Canadian league - in the 1905/06 season in the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey League and from 1905 to 1909 in the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association . In the 1909/10 season, the Shamrocks first played in the Canadian Hockey Association , which, however, stopped playing after only a few games completed, after the National Hockey Association founded in the same period was much more popular with viewers. Together with the reigning Stanley Cup winner Ottawa Senators , the Shamrocks were subsequently accepted into the NHA during the 1910 season . With the financial resources spent there, the Shamrocks could no longer keep up, which is why they were dissolved at the end of the season.
