The Toronto Shamrocks were a Canadian ice hockey team based in Toronto , Ontario . The team played in the National Hockey Association from 1912 to 1915 .

history

The team was founded for the 1912/13 season as a franchise of the National Hockey Association under the name Toronto Tecumsehs . In this as in the following season - this time under the name Toronto Ontario - the team finished last in the NHA. In the 1914/15 season , the team improved under the name Toronto Shamrocks slightly, but left only the Canadiens de Montréal behind. Before the 1915/16 season , Eddie Livingstone, owner of the Shamrocks, had acquired the Toronto Blueshirts franchise , which meant too much power to the other team owners, which is why he should sell the team again. This turned out to be a fatal decision, however, as Livingstone sold the entire Blueshirts roster to the new PCHA Seattle Metropolitans team , instead integrated the Shamrocks roster into its Blueshirts franchise and disbanded the Shamrocks, leaving the NHA with a whole team and a few good player lost.
