- The Toronto Ontarios changed their name to Toronto Shamrocks.
mode
In the regular season, the six teams played 20 games each. The first two players played two playoff games against each other, with the team with the better goal difference from both games being champions. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
Season course
Due to the outbreak of World War I , audience numbers dropped and players' salaries were drastically reduced. A group of players around Art Ross threatened to found their own league, which is why Ross was temporarily excluded from the game by the NHA, but finally an agreement was reached. During the regular season, the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Wanderers reached first place of the regular season with 28 points each. In the playoffs Ottawa won the first leg 4-0 and could afford a 0-1 defeat in the second leg.
