Canadian Solar Inc. ( CSI ) is a Canadian manufacturer of solar modules . The company is based in Guelph , Ontario, with production mainly in China.

Canadian Solar was founded in 2001 by Shawn Qu, who emigrated to Canada from China in 1987. Since then, more than 15 GW modules have been delivered.

In 2015, the American solar developer Recurrent Energy was taken over.

The production capacity at the end of 2015 was 4.33 GW. 2.7 GW of this was in the PR China ( Changshu / Jiangsu and Luoyang / Henan ), 500 MW in Guelph, Ontario and 330 MW in Southeast Asia.
