Candace Gingrich (born June 2, 1966 ) is an American lesbian activist and the half-sister of the former speaker of the US House of Representatives Newt Gingrich .

Candace Gingrich works in a leading position for the Human Rights Campaign , a lobby group for gays and lesbians in the USA and lives in Washington DC In 1995 she was nominated by Esquire magazine as one of "Women We Love" and one by Ms. Magazine voted “Women of the Year”. She is also known for guest appearances on the television sitcoms " Ellen " and " Friends " and her membership in the rugby team Washington Furies .

Her autobiography, published in 1996, is entitled "Accidental Activist: A Personal and Political Memoir".
